Octoberfest Parties, Lederhosen and Steins

Fall always brings out parties, festivals and fun in October. Octoberfest celebrations with people wearing lederhosen and dirndl dresses originated in northern Europe.

With Octoberfest celebrations happening in many places, I brought you to our “Switzerland of the Rockies”, to show the European spirit right here in the US. Our gorgeous Aspens are peaking out in front of the San Juan Mountains in Southwest Colorado this fall, allowing us to enjoy the beauty of Magnificent Mother Nature.

Each day during these summer to fall days, the light is changing (as always) and we are seeing marked differences in our vegetation and views. I noticed some leaves on my Lilies of the Valley flowers are going through a lime green phase on their way to their winter rest.

I’ll be watching the autumn colors change through my Silhouette® window shadings, so I’m able to have some insulation against the cooler outside temperatures and still see a filtered view of the outdoors. The reds of Sugar Maples, gold ands yellows of Aspens, and fall flowers are a welcome sight during the fall months. It is the combination of views, some privacy and insulation at the same time, that our CamilyWand™Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ was invented.

It is a tool designed to remove bugs and debris from the inside of the vanes of Hunter Douglas Silhouettes® and products which give similar effects, like Nantuckets™, Pirouettes®, Vignettes,® Luminettes,® and Soleras™. Other companies like Comfortex, Smith+Noble, and Allan+Roth make shadings that serve a similar purpose, such as Illusions and Shangri-Las. They are all designed to capture the energy of our iridescent light, bringing it into our homes. Humans are drawn to that energy and so are bugs, dust and debris. We find ourselves with the task of removing bugs from between the silk-like vanes of those window shadings. Our safe CamilyWand™ easily does the job.

Our readers love our tool and use it for so many chores in their homes, it is good to have it on hand for when the need arises. It’s perpetually sticky CamilyTip ( when clean) will grab webs, light weight particles, papers and almost anything from high and inaccessible places.  Readers are placing orders to have them on hand as we move into the holiday season entertaining time. So we have made CamilyWand™  available at this website on our SHOP page, or you may order by phone using the information from our contact page. We know you will enjoy its benefits throughout the year.

We at CamilyWand™ wish you a safe, fine fall and holiday season as you enjoy the last months of the year.

Indian Summer Brings Barbecues

What great fall and Indian Summer type weather we are having! Our time seems to fly by, so we need to enjoy these colorful fall days!

Football games, family parties, outside activities and barbecues are on our minds. That chicken on the Weber grill  looks so good! It can cook all through a football game, and be ready to eat just as your team wins.  Then you’re able to move to the inside of your home for your meal as the sun drops behind the horizon and the temperatures dip. This is fall at its best.

Fall is also a great time to take advantage of the warm day temperatures to air out our homes, do some fall touch up cleaning and make our homes warm and cozy for the cooler temperatures on their way. With October being such a transitional month, we at CamilyWand™ think it’s a great time to get everything ready for the upcoming holidays.

CamilyWand™ is the answer to retrieving  bugs, dirt and debris which are attracted to light, especially in our window shadings such as Silhouettes® and Nantuckets,™ by Hunter Douglas. Light is an energy source, so we and pesky bugs want to be in the light or have it around us. Bugs often crawl or fly into inaccessible places like the blinds or high corners in rooms. Our tool was invented for that purpose. It is an extension pole with a silicon CamilyTip which is washable and reusable when cared for according to our Care Instructions. It must be clean to grab dust and debris. We know of readers who have picked up papers and earrings from behind heavy furniture, removed aphids from roses, cleaned cobwebs from cornices, ceilings and beams. Its uses are extensive, both inside and outside the home and office.

It works on other window shadings as well: Hunter Douglas Pirouettes®, Luminettes®, and Vignettes® and Soleras™. Other companies, like Allan + Roth,  Smith and Noble, and Comfortex produce products like Shangri-Las, Illusions, and sheer shading products which collect bugs and debris that need to be removed to protect your views and investments.

We are enjoying our cleaning chores with our CamilyWand™. It makes it fun to see where it will work as we move through our fall cleaning. I used the CamilyTip in the bottom rail of my sliding doors and people use it in sliding windows as well. It is flexible enough to fit into many areas, thus its uniqueness and versatility. It seems there are always new ways to use our versatile CamilyWand™.

As you move through your early fall, be safe and enjoy Mother Natures offerings that only appear at this time of year.

Fall Color, Romantic Weekends

Fall is bringing crisp mornings and a parade of colors as our temperatures dip and we have shorter daylight hours.

Mother Nature is ushering us into a time of celebrations with all of the gorgeous color changes she brings in the colorful leaves and cooler temperatures. Many of us have weathered the summers’ unusual heat and are enjoying the brisk weather. As we do that, we move more of our attentions into the inside of our homes. We’ll still have barbecues and picnics, but will enjoy our kitchens and family rooms more now that fall is officially here.

We’ll be sprucing up our homes with fall cleaning and decorating for Halloween and other holidays. You would enjoy having an all around tool that will reach many varied and inaccessible areas to remove pesky dirt, webs, bugs and debris with it’s perpetually sticky tip. It is our CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ and has a silicon tip which is washable after it is covered with dust and other debris. When the sticky tip is dirty and dusty, it needs to be washed to retain its tackiness. The tip is attached to an extension pole, which extends your reach to 4′ or 6′, depending on which length fits your needs best.

We invented the CamilyWand™ for bug and debris removal and have found so many other uses as our readers share their fun cleaning experiences, that we want you to think of different ways you can use our tool in your home. It works very well to get bugs, flies, moths and other debris out of Hunter Douglas Silhouette® shadings. The bugs are attracted to light, like most living beings, become trapped inside the vane openings of the shadings and die there. Debris becomes lodged in the front of the shadings where the vane attaches to the sheer in the front dip of the “S” shape of the vane. These particles are very difficult to remove, and our CamilyWand™ removes them easily and quickly. With our beautiful fall leaves, you might find a small piece of a leaf in that area of your shading.

It works for bug and debris removal in other window shading products also, such as Nantuckets™ Pirouettes®, Vignettes®, Luminettes®, Soleras™ Shangri-Las and Illusions, to name a few. Our readers keep CamilyWand™ in mind as they move through their homes, offices, garages and other places, for grabbing out of reach items or debris. I removed some pests off of one of my inside plants this morning, as it didn’t damage the blossom. Another reader reported removing aphids from her roses. So you see that it’s uses are limitless.

Whatever your fall brings to you, we at CamilyWand™ wish you safe and happy times.

Football: College Saturdays & Pro Sundays!

Autumn leaves, football  –  great ways to spend your fall weekends! There is an energy in College Football that is like no other! This is Camp Randall filled with UW Badger Fans!

Back in the day, I used to spend every University of Wisconsin home game Saturday at Camp Randallwatching football, along with 80,000+ others – even when we weren’t winning. Now we have alums like Monte Ball, who is playing with the Broncos, and many Rose Bowl trophies.

Somehow, fall and football to together, along with the beautiful color in the changing leaves. Growing up in the midwest was a treat for the eyes. I always loved to rake leaves and see the intermingling of gorgeous cranberry reds, rusts, golds, and yellows all together. For many of our readers, the fall brings back fond memories.

After enjoying the game, we’d go to after- football parties at friends homes, enjoying the warmth of home cooking, home fires where we roasted s’mores, drank apple cider and ate other goodies. Our hosts had their homes ready for company and we enjoyed sunsets and fall views, often through the the sheers of blinds covering the windows.

One of the more popular window shadings which offers filtered views when the vanes are open is the Silhouette® blind by Hunter Douglas. It is a beautiful shading with sheers on the front and the back and vanes connecting the sheers to make a long, horizontal area with openings at the side. Those openings allow bugs and debris to get caught in the shadings, and they cannot find their way back out to freedom. So they die there and ruin our wonderful views. Readers and customers have ordered our CamilyWands™ during the middle of their meals as they cannot stand the ugliness of a dead, pesky insect in their shadings.

Our safe, patented CamilyWand Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ is the only known professional solution on the market used for that purpose. It works on many other blinds, such as Nantuckets™,  Alustra Luminettes®, Pirouettes®, Vignettes®, Soleras™, Shangri-Las, Illusions, and other similar shadings from different manufacturers. It also reaches debris and cobwebs from inaccessible places, and will pick up lightweight objects from hard to reach areas. It is a great tool to have on hand for a variety of “grabbing” type needs. Many readers have thought of very creative uses for our CamilyWand™, and you may too.

We at Camily hope that as you prepare for fall festivities, you’ll enjoy yourself, treasure Mother Natures shows, and have great times with friends and families!

College Visits, School Sports

Fall brings unique activities to our lives. Many of us have visited colleges with our young adults, where they may be attending sporting events or enjoying their new campuses.

This sunrise photo over Lake Mendota at the University of Wisconsin – Madison is a of a view that I might have seen when I studied there.  These beautiful areas in our world lend themselves to thinking and provide breaks from studying, regardless of where you are in your education. It may be college or it may be life lessons. At any rate we are improving our living experience.

When we are in our homes, we also desire a nice living experience.

We do that by paying attention to our surroundings, cleaning our homes after summer fun and preparing for the many upcoming holidays. Many readers use our CamilyWand Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ to take care of these chores and remove pesky bugs, cobwebs and debris from their Silhouette® blinds and other inaccessible or high places. The perpetually sticky CamilyTip™ will grab any lightweight debris from inside the vanes of many types of window shadings. Hunter Douglas manufactures many of those shadings, such as Nantuckets™, Luminettes®, Pirouettes®, Vignettes®, and Soleras™. There are many similar shadings like Illusions, Shangri-La and others on the market as well.

Our CamilyWand™ is also convenient for other clean up chores, such as removing debris from ceilings, difficult corners, chandeliers, beams, ceiling fans and unusual places.

We pride ourselves on the versatility of our removal tool. The CamilyTip is so tacky it attaches to papers that have dropped on the ground or behind furniture, aphids on roses, earrings behind dressers and anything that you have difficulty reaching. One reader purchased our CamilyWand for her elderly Mom so she wouldn’t have to crawl under tables or reach down to pick up things she had dropped — a good idea for gifts.

As the fall season comes and our temperatures drop, enjoy the time inside your home. Be prepared to move those tail gate parties inside if necessary. Whatever fall activities you have planned, we at Camily, LLC wish you fun and safe times.

Tailgate Parties, County Fairs

Fun county and state fairs, Labor Day holidays, back to school days, and trips show Americana at its best this time of year!

I recall college trips with my children – especially the drives across beautiful countryside, taking them to their schools -looking forward to all the fall traditions, and enjoying natures’ bounty along the way. The Midwestern sunflowers in August and September were always stunning in my mind – endless fields of flowers welcoming the changing seasons.

As we look forward to the cooler temperatures and our upcoming fall, we’ll be shifting our focus toward casual autumn parties and times when we spend more of our days indoors.  Some readers are commenting on different issues they have in their homes, particularly why they have little gnats, bugs and debris in the vane openings of their nice Silhouette® or Nantucket™  window shadings. These “blinds” have wonderful light dispersion qualities; we love it and so do the bugs. The attraction draws them into the shading from the shade’s side openings.

We, at Camily, LLC,  were aware of that issue and invented our CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ for that purpose. There are many shadings that attract bugs into the beautiful light. They include Pirouettes®, Vignettes®, Luminettes® Soleras®, Shangri-La and Illusion window shadings manufactured by Hunter Douglas and other blind companies. Many of these products have been on the market for years and would benefit from the use of our CamilyWand.™ It’s sticky tip grabs debris easily and safely from your shadings, preserving your gorgeous views.

CamilyWand™ also reaches other problem areas in the home. It does a fine job retrieving lightweight objects from inaccessible places, such as jewelry from behind dressers, and papers in between appliances, webs and debris hanging from beams, crown mouldings and cornices and drapery treatments. Using our removal tool will make your cleaning chores easier and more effective, as you move into fall entertaining.

Our hope is for you to enjoy the last of summer time and enjoy our upcoming harvest time. Have a great September!

Labor Day Holiday Weekend

Labor Day, our last summer weekend holiday, is coming soon. We’ll be enjoying barbecues, games, fairs, and fun times with friends as we move into a new season.

Some of you may be getting away for the weekend, maybe going to a Fish Boil in Door County, WI or going on picnics or hikes. You may be staying close to home to have a long weekend celebration with friends.

You’ll be getting your homes ready for your special weekend by sprucing up areas that have been ignored over the summer. When it comes to reaching inaccessible places to remove bugs and debris, our CamilyWand Sticky Bug Removal Tool comes in handy. Many of us have hidden cobwebs in corners or behind furniture which would be easily reached by our extendable pole with its perpetually sticky tip, which “picks up” what ever you touch with it.

One of those inaccessible places where flies and moths love to go is inside the vane openings on Silhouette® blinds by Hunter Douglas. These are high end window shadings which have 3 benefits: a filtered view, energy savings and privacy simultaneously. Or they can be drawn into a headrail. The bugs love the light and warmth, which is why they go inbetween the vanes. But then they aren’t able to get out, creating difficulties for the homeowner. As a long time interior designer and dealer for window shadings, I realized the issue, invented and patented our CamilyWand for that purpose and now manufacture it in Colorado Springs. CamilyWand also works on window shadings like Nantuckets™, Luminettes®, Pirouettes®, Soleras®, Vignettes®, Shangri-Las, Illusions and other similar products.

So as you prepare your home for the long Labor Day Weekend, be sure to get rid of pesky insects from corners, other high places and your window shadings.  It’s a good tool to have on hand for little emergency situations, where a bug could ruin your view through your Silhouettes® while you’re eating your meals. That happened recently to one reader and she ordered her wand at our online shop immediately. (She even emailed a photo of the offender!)

As you enjoy your weekend, we at CamilyWand wish you a great holiday this Labor Day, be safe and have fun!

August Celebrations, School Starting!

Summertime is winding down, with cooler mornings and shorter sunlight time in our days. And our children of all ages are heading back to school.

Today, for my sweet Granddaughter, it’s the first day of preschool; for others, it’s the first day of kindergarten; some are off to college, moving away from home. There were graduations and other celebrations over the summer, barbecues, soccer and baseball games. All fun times with friends and families. As we enjoy each moment of every day, we learn to treasure the time and continuing growth we are blessed to enjoy in this world.

There are many ways we are able to enjoy our lives, both home and away. We keep our homes in good order, clean and nice so we may invite friends to spend time with us. This new off to school time gives us more latitude in getting things done around our homes and offices.  We know as fall approaches that we’ll be entertaining more inside our homes. It’s time to get those cobwebs from the ceiling, light fixtures, ceiling fans, pot and pan racks, and beams. Our CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ is just the tool to grab the pesky dirt, debris and bugs. It’s perpetually sticky tip (when kept dust free and washed as needed) will grab little critters, light weight objects, allowing you to do your clean up swiftly and easily.

Its CamilyTip™ sticks to any lightweight object, especially from inaccessible places, using its extension pole to grab the offending object, remove it and then be washed for more work. We designed it when we realized that there were window shading products which were attractive to bugs. Why, you might wonder? It is because the energy from light is like a magnet for bugs, flies, moths, and debris. They would crawl into the open sides of vanes on products like Silhouettes® by Hunter Douglas, bake in there and not be able to get out. So there often are bugs in the middle of the gorgeous blinds, which ruin views and are difficult to remove.

Our CamilyWand™ has almost infinite uses, as our imaginative readers have noticed. It works on blinds like Nantuckets™, Luminettes®, Pirouettes®, Vignettes®, Soleras®, Illusions and Shangri-Las. It is a popular tool for the garden, making pest removal (like aphids) from your flowering blooms a breeze. Car, boat and yacht engine enthusiasts use it to reach into tight spaces and lift light weight objects.

There are many reasons to have our tool in your home. Recently, I dropped an earring behind my dresser, just as I was about to leave for an appointment. I got my CamilyWand™, extended the pole to the right length, touched it to my earring, and retrieved it from behind furniture that would have been difficult to move. And off I went to my meeting.

We hope you will make your cleaning chores easier with our CamilyWand™ as you begin your fall tidying-up projects. And we wish you a very fun filled rest of the summer!

August Warmth, Rains, Schooltime

August is our wettest month in Colorado; we are getting beneficial evening rains in the late afternoon, as is a longtime pattern here in the Rocky Mountains. The good news for us is that these recent rains are going a long way to easing our drought. The rain gave us a gift, photographed by my friends, Debbie and Birdie – a Gorgeous Rainbow today!

Rainbows, sunsets over the mountains and our great Rocky Mountain front range are some of the views we are blessed with here in Colorado Springs. Magic – in Gods Country!

We want you all to be able to see great views through your windows. Those readers who have shadings and blinds that allow “view through” are very lucky to be able to see your views through them when your shadings are down over the glass.  Many of you have Silhouette® type window shadings, screen shadings or sheer type shadings, which will collect dust and debris on and in them over time.

And there are many other needs for reaching inaccessible spaces in homes, offices, cars, boats, airplanes, gardens, equipment… and the list goes on. When I was fine tuning the product at the design phase, I used several different types of parts to create our CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™. The first time I used it, the dust, and debris from my beams, high corners,  pot and pan rack, and lighting fixtures amazed me. I needed to wash it several times during my exciting clean up of inaccessible places. Because it was my patented invention, it was quite a thrill to use it. I still enjoy using it for the myriad of tasks to this day, almost 5 years after I started Camily, LLC.

Why did I need to try out these different places? It did the job of removing bugs and those annoying little debris pieces and gnats from my Silhouette® shadings. So I was thrilled to realize the different creative uses for my tool. A reader used it to easily remove her aphids from her rose bushes, other people reached inaccessible places in their cars, and the list goes on. Recently I dropped an earring behind my large, heavy dresser as I was getting ready for an appointment. Being in a rush, I grabbed my CamilyWand™, reached the earring between the dresser and wall, it stuck to the CamilyTip™ and I went on my way. Quick and easy without painful furniture moving!

After you’ve removed all of your bugs and debris from your Silhouettes or other shadings, like Nantuckets™, Luminettes®, Pirouettes®, Vignettes®, Soleras®, Illusions, Shangri- Las or other similar blinds, you and friends we’ll be able to enjoy your views through your shadings.  As a bonus, you’ll find it a “must have” tool for around the house or office.

We trust that you’ll be enjoying your remaining summer days with your families and friends as school begins this fall. Here at Camily LLC, we wish you a safe rest of the summer!

August Swimming, Baseball, School Shopping

Summer swimming on warm August days is such relief from the heat! I remember going to the little lake in central Wisconsin to beat the temperatures during the day, then having baseball games in the street in our small town until dark. Carefree days to be sure.

We were getting ready for school too, like all young people who will be heading to the classrooms in coming weeks. I asked a good friend last week when they had shopped, and their children had gotten their supplies at the end of July. There are great offers for all of us to build up our supply cache for our businesses and home at this time of year. End of the summer parties, birthdays, anniversaries, garden parties, and barbecues continue.

We work to keep our homes and gardens looking nice for these special times. Your home furnishings should look their best. If you have Silhouette® shadings on your windows, you’ll want to be sure they are clean and the bugs and gnats are removed. People looking out through your shadings will enjoy your views if you have removed the pesky critters with our CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™. Light is a draw for bugs – they like the inside of your shadings, which is why our CamilyWand exists. In my design business, it became important to address the why question, so CamilyWand™ is now available.

Know that our tool has a myriad of other uses. Some readers use it for removing aphids and other bugs from tender flower blossoms as in our photo, some remove cobwebs from lighting fixtures, ceiling beams, crown moldings, ceiling fans and other inaccessible places. It is a universal grabbing tool for lightweight objects in sewing and hobby rooms, car maintenance areas and many other hard to reach places. Our video in the bottom of the “about page” shows alternate applications for our CamilyWand.™

Enjoy your August and all the fun times you’ll have with friends and family. We at CamilyWand wish you a safe and fun filled summer!

Hot July Ends, Future King Born

As our long hot July comes to a close, we have a new future King of England, Prince George born on July 22, 2013. Will, Kate and Prince George are spending his first days in Bucklebury, Berkshire, England with Kates family. It is a terrific, majestic time for the English people.Prince George

We are still having hot, hot weather throughout the country, along with some rainy times to lower the temperatures and help our drought areas. Garden parties are in full swing and we are still enjoying our baseball, soccer and other summer sport events. People are hosting barbecues and family reunions during the last hurrah before school days begin.

We prepare our homes for our parties and guests; our readers want their homes to look nice and clean. That often starts with their windows, as people enjoy looking at the views. Many readers have Silhouette ® window shadings by Hunter Douglas. They allow people to see a filtered view, get life giving light into their rooms and insulate their homes simultaneously.

The light is very attractive, alluring bugs into the vanes to capture the wonderful, warm rays. Once they enter the side openings of the shadings, they cannot find their way out. This is why we have invented and manufacture our CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™.  It’s the easy way to remove the pesky critters safely and quickly, without harming the Silhouettes®. It also works on Nantuckets™, Pirouettes ®, Luminettes®, and Vignettes® by Hunter Douglas as well as Shangri-La, Illusions and other similar blinds by other companies.

The Silhouettes® are among the finest of blinds and window shadings, perfect for little Prince George. They allow partial privacy and filtered views at the same time. I’ve been selling Silhouettes® and their “sister product”, Nantuckets™ in my interior design business since they were invented and they offer every advantage for blinds. Why the bugs are attracted to such a beautiful shading led to our CamilyWand™ being invented.

We at Camily, LLC wish you a fun filled rest of the summer. As the school year approaches, be safe and enjoy our end of July and August!

Ball Games, Peanuts, Sandy Beaches

Baseball fever is upon many of us this summer. Even those of us who are not baseball gurus can’t help but be pulled into the fun team sport. Loyalties come out for favorite teams, the teams some of us knew as children often remain as our favorites. Hot Dogs, Peanuts, and Cracker Jack sold by vendors coming to the stands is a normal sight. Fun, sunny summer.

Beaches are draws for many of us who only want to relax by some beautiful water and go in for a swim to cool off after sunbathing. Some of us visit lake side homes, small or large; some of us spend time on ocean beaches or gulf shores. Or you may have magnificent mountain views, stunning city scape views, garden and natural views or nice neighborhood views. Whatever your views, we all want to be able to enjoy them.

Many of our readers have beachside homes or homes with great views and have chosen to preserve their views from their windows with the insulative protection of Silhouette® blinds. These window shadings have sheer fabrics on the front and back of vanes that connect between them. They provide wonderful plays on light and warmth. This is why bugs go into the side openings of the shadings. They find their way in and aren’t able to get out. Should they expire in between the vanes, they can harm the Silhouette® shadings, as well as Nantuckets®, Vignettes®, Luminettes® and Pirouettes® from Hunter Douglas. Other companies produce similar Shangri-Las and Illusions.

As a long time interior designer, I knew why the bugs and debris became lodged in the Silhouette® shadings. My readers were frustrated with this and wanted a solution. So I invented our CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™, which has a perpetually sticky tip attached to the end of an extension pole, for grabbing the little critters. It is a safe, inexpensive answer to our bugs in blinds problem as well as reaching items from high and inaccessible places. Keeping your home and living spaces clean and bug free is a breeze with our CamilyWand™.

We have many summer days for entertaining, and we want you to have the best tool to keep you shadings bug free, and your home in beautiful condition. Have a wonderful, fun filled summer!

Beat the July Heat, Ice Cream Socials

July is often one of the hottest months of the year. There are garden parties, ice cream socials, lemonade stands, baseball games, barbecues and many other fun things to do in the warm summertime. They bring us to the outdoors, let us appreciate nature and the sun’s energy, and relax in warmer temperatures.Ice Cream Cone

As a child I went to ice cream socials sponsored by the local hospital auxiliary which were held in their outside gardens. My siblings and I always dressed up and Mom took us there for little treats. It brings back fond memories of wonderful childhood times.

We often re-create those types of memories or plan our social functions in our homes around themes. Summertime allows many more outside activities and fun, so everyone is moving inside and outside. We are keeping our window shadings down covering the glass to keep the heat out. Many of us have Silhouette® blinds covering our windows, as they allow filtered views, insulation and privacy simultaneously.

The light through the sheers is very compelling – which is why we enjoy the Silhouettes® and why the bugs enjoy them too. We look through the sheers to see our preserved views and the bugs enter the vane openings to enjoy the light. Our CamilyWand Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ is a must to have on hand. When a pesky critter gets stuck inbetween the vanes, quick removal is important. This is another reason why CamilyWand™ is on the market. It works on many Hunter Douglas products, such as Nantuckets™, Luminettes®, Vignettes®, Soleras® and Pirouettes® plus shadings like Shangri-Las, Illusions and others made by different companies.

Let your friends, neighbors, designers, and blind shops know that our CamilyWand™ is here and available to help them protect their investment and preserve their views.

We at CamilyWand wish you happy summer days filled with memorable time spent with friends and family!

Baseball, Golf, July Barbecues, Bastille Day

We all love the great outdoors in mid summer – the weather brings sunshine, beneficial rain, and longer daylight hours for us to enjoy our summer days. I always feel more productive and energized in the summer. Going to a ballpark for a ball game, playing a round of golf on your favorite golf course, spending time in the garden and having outdoor meals with friends and family. Or for the French people, their Bastille Day that is celebrated on July 14th, is often a reason to give a party.

Bastille Day is the French holiday celebrating their democracy.  Bastille was a prison that represented the monarchy in France, and the people stormed it on July 14, 1789. It is not only the French people that celebrate that day, many will visit the Eiffel Tower, put on their berets and pick up a paint brush ( hoping to become the next Monet), or take a boat ride down the Seine River. Maybe some of our readers have a Bastille Day party planned for Sunday.

Their homes will be ready, their blinds and Silhouettes® will be free of debris and bugs, and they will have an enjoyable time entertaining friends.

I was at a working party last night, where one of our readers had a sunroom full of Silhouettes, and nary a bug in sight. My friend, who was our hostess said, ‘I keep all of the bugs out with my CamilyWand™.’ How rewarding to hear mention of our Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ there. She removes them whenever she sees them, so her filtered views are preserved, her blinds stay in pristine condition and her investment is well maintained. Our tool also works on other window shadings such as Nantuckets™, Luminettes®, Pirouettes®, Soleras®, Vignettes® by Hunter Douglas and Shangri Las, Illusions as well as other similar products on the market.

You might wonder why bugs and debris get into the Silhouette® window shadings. It is the attraction to LIGHT. My friends sunroom overlooks a beautiful garden and pond looking out toward Pikes Peak and the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range. The shadings were down covering the glass with the vanes in the open position, and because she uses the tool often, the filtered view at sunset was spectacular! Times like these are why we brought our CamilyWand™ to the market. Beautiful window shadings, beautiful view and wonderful friends all together for a productive evening~~~ all while enjoying Mother natures’ offerings!

We hope you have a great upcoming weekend with any parties or celebrations you attend!

Fireworks, 4th of July, Patriotic Music

Are you ready… for all the fun and celebrations we have in the United States on the 4th of July? Parades, concerts in the parks, backyard barbecues with friends and families are all ways we celebrate our countries’  founding and the freedoms we share.

In Colorado Springs, Boston and many other cities across the country, we have symphony concerts combined with fireworks shows. There are many wonderful, patriotic songs, such as: Star Spangled Banner,  America the Beautiful, Battle Hymn of the Republic and my favorite, the 1812 Overture  by Tchaikovsky played with cannons firing at the end at our downtown Memorial Park  4th of July Celebration in Colorado Springs.  Long time traditions bring back our warm feelings of independence, freedom and its message.

As we are enjoying our guests and families in our homes for the barbecues and parties, we always want our homes to look their best.  Many of you readers have Silhouette® window shadings by Hunter Douglas in your homes and may have noticed tiny gnats, debris or other bugs in your shadings.  Why they get stuck in there often seems a mystery to us. The magic of light in the shadings is the attraction for them and those of us who own Silhouettes®,  Nantuckets™,  Luminettes®, Vignettes®, Pirouettes®,  Soleras®, Shangri-Las, or Illusions shadings. Light plays such an important place in our lives, it is attractive in many ways.

In a effort to keep our shadings free of bugs, preserving our views and allowing insulation from heat and cooling simultaneously, we have invented and manufacture our CamilyWand™  Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ to address that issue. It is an extension pole with a washable sticky tip which easily grabs the bugs or offending debris. We have determined why the bugs are so attracted to our beautiful shadings, and offer an easy solution for a quick clean up before your holiday parties start.

We know you’ll be pleased with your unobstructed view through your shadings as you entertain your friends and family. We wish you a very happy, safe holiday and join you in letting freedom ring as we patriotically celebrate the 4th of July!

June Flowers, Baseball Games, Beach Parties

“Take me out to the ballgame, Take me out to the park, Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack, I don’t care if I never get back. So it’s root, root for the home team….” Those words were written on a train ride to Manhattan, New York by vaudeville songwriter/entertainer Jack Norworth in 1908. We’ve been singing it during the 7th Inning Stretch at baseball games for over a century! Baseball games, beach parties and June flowers usher out the month of June in fine style.

Many of us get to see the summer baseball games at home team fields and little league games at school fields in our small towns. Or Dads and Moms are practicing batting, throwing and catching the ball in our backyards with their children.  Little Leaguers are having a great time and competitions abound.

When we have time to take it easy at our homes, we want to relax and enjoy our environment. We love to enjoy the summer sunrises and sunsets through our windows. Many of our readers have Silhouette® window shadings by Hunter Douglas in their homes. When many purchased them, they wanted to know why they would enjoy having them in their homes. The opportunities for filtered views through the shadings, insulation and privacy at the same time were often a compelling reason.

As time passes, our Silhouettes® display great light refraction , where the filtered light from the sheers bounces off and though the sheers giving iridescent glows to your rooms. This why it is such an attractive product to use in your homes. We love the light, and often bugs will find their way into the side openings of the vanes. Why does that happen? They are attracted to the light as much as we are.

They want to get near the glass where our Silhouettes®, Luminettes®, Vignettes®, Nantuckets™, Pirouettes®, Shangri-Las, Illusions and Soleras® are hanging. It is important to remove them as quickly as possible. We have invented and market our CamilyWand™Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ to do that. Our readers have it in their homes to keep their Silhouettes® and other products bug free at all times. Their views are attractive without the presence of bugs, gnats and other debris.

We have addressed the simple bug problem with a wonderful, easy to use solution to help you make your rooms as beautiful as possible with our CamilyWand™.

We trust that you are enjoying your summer and are prepared for your outside barbecues, grilling and entertaining friends and family. We are here to serve you in your efforts to keep your home and window shadings beautiful,  and having a great summer.

June 21, Hot Summer Days, Beaches

June 21, the first day of summer and the Summer Solstice has the longest daylight time in the year. Depending on where you live, it can be light until very late in the day. The Scandinavian countries have only 3-4 hours of darkness during this time of year. It seems very different to have daylight until 10:00 or 11:00 in the evening. Our sun comes north to the Tropic of Cancer, its northernmost point that day, and then will head back toward the Equator.

As you watch for sun patterns in your home, this is the “highest” the sun gets in the sky. From this point forward it will start setting a little farther towards the south each day. Since sun has such impact on our homes with light and heat, it is good to see how the different angles affect your homes interiors. The sun is an amazing force for our lives. We love it streaming into our homes sending a brilliant light.

Many of us have put Silhouette® window shadings into our homes to capture that light, a filtered view and insulation simultaneously. As we love the light, so do little gnats, flies and other bugs. We wonder why bugs get into the  spaces between the vanes. They love the light and warmth just as we do. We, however, don’t get stuck inside the openings, like the little pests do. As our readers often experience this issue, we are spreading the word about our invention called CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ to assist in removing the debris that collects in between the vanes. It works like a charm using the sticky tip to grab the bug as the pole is inserted into the vane opening. It is a safe, convenient, simple tool designed to get rid of the bugs or debris found in inaccessible places as well as Silhouette® blinds. It also works on Nantuckets™, Luminettes®, Vignettes®, Solera® and Pirouettes® by Hunter Douglas as well as Illusions and Shangri-La blinds manufactured by other companies.

It is important to remove the unsightly bugs as soon as you notice them, not only for the safety of your blind, but for the beauty of the windows in your home. Having a bug free view and  preserving your shadings will protect your investment, adding longevity to your shadings and the joy of light into your home.

We at Camily, LLC wish you a wonderfully warm, safe summer, enjoying your families and friends.

Fathers Day, Flag Day, Patriotic Celebrations

Fathers Day in Mid June is always a wonderful celebration for our Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles, Brothers and the men in our lives. It’s our time to give fun Fathers Day gifts, participate in sporting events with Dad, go on boat outings, go fishing, play golf with Dad or stay home to celebrate. Maybe a nap for Dad and then grilling on the patio or in the backyard is what our Dads might like to do for Fathers Day this year.

We always enjoy celebrations of our Dads love and efforts throughout the year. We also treasure our Flag Day and patriotic celebrations. They began in 1916 when President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14th as Flag Day.  An Act of Congress in 1949 established it as National Flag Day. This year Fathers Day and Flag Day share the same weekend. We’ll have celebrations for both special days on June 14th and 15th.

Our homes will be ready for entertaining so we can concentrate on having fun on the weekend. We’ll be getting our grills cleaned in anticipation of goodies cooked on the grill. In preparation, we’ve checked areas of our homes for things like debris, little gnats and bugs in our Silhouette® window shadings. Readers wonder why bugs fly into the vane openings on the side; it is all about light. We sell the Silhouettes® partly because of the light capturing qualities. Our filtered views, our increased insulation and privacy are Silhouette® attributes that we love.

In my long time interior design career, we’ve worked with light and color in our projects. So Silhouette® type shadings are very popular among our readers. We realized that light in the vanes is attractive to bugs as well as the Silhouette owners. So we invented CamilyWand™, a safe tool for bug removal when bugs get caught inbetween the vanes. It has a washable, safe sticky tip designed to grab the insect or debris easily and safely without harming the Silhouette® fabric. Readers who have them know the problem, they share the knowledge with friends, and others benefit as well.

When you’ve finished preparing for your parties and celebrations, enjoy your guests, knowing your home is beautiful and ready for company. We at CamilyWand™ wish you a wonderful, safe Fathers’ Day and Flag Day weekend!

June Summer Beach Fun

Are you going to the beach this summer or traveling on a cruise to tropical beaches? Will you be celebrating graduations or weddings at waterfront homes or resorts? I hope to have some  time near the water during the rest of  the spring or summer months.

Homes and resorts with water views will have blinds and shadings on their windows that accentuate the views and minimize the glare and UV rays. Many types of shadings will block the sun and allow great views. But the only family of shadings that gives you a filtered view, substantial energy savings and privacy at the same time is the Silhouette® type of shadings. Hunter Douglas manufactures other products that offer similar advantages. They are Nantucket™, Luminette®, and Pirouette® shadings. Other manufacturers offer Illusions, Shangri-Las® and similar blinds.

Silhouette® shadings are a staple in my interior design business because of those attributes. The magical way the light is refracted is gorgeous for people and a big draw for insects and bugs. This is why I invented our CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™.  Because pests love the light, they travel into the vane openings and often get stuck there. Having a simple, easy and safe way to remove them is important to my clients, so I made that possible with our tool.

When our clients want a pristine, filtered ocean view and it is marred by pests or derbis, they’re able to remove them easily, quickly and effeciently. Having the CamilyWand™ readily available to clients is a big plus for me. So my clients who order Silhouettes® now get it as a thank you gift. They are always grateful, telling their friends about it and singing its’ praises.

As you move into the summer entertaining, whether or not you live at the waters edge, keep our tool in mind. It will make your “cleaning” chores simpler and give you time to do the things you love.

We wish you a safe, enjoyable and fun summer, wherever you are or whatever you do. Have a wonderful, fun summer!

Memorial Day Week, June Celebratory Parties

Enjoying Memorial Day week and continuing Celebratory parties touches many of us during this end of May, beginning of June time. Travels to honor graduates, celebrating weddings, family reunions, new babies, and planning summer family vacations is exciting for us. We anticipate, plan and enjoy our time when many students are away from school. This is why we love our summertime.

We’re making plans for dinners, parties and gifts. We’re remembering our loved ones and ancestors who have fought for our freedoms with family get togethers. Bakeries are enjoying a busy time, flower shops are hopping with spring and early summer blooms for bouquets and corsages. We want these events to be special, so we go to great lengths to build family memories.

I remember making high school graduations for my children very special. For my daughters’ party we had tour of the NORAD, North American Aerospace Defense Command,  inside Cheyenne Mountain. We all enjoyed our amazing visit into the mountain and were very lucky. My friend arranged the tour, which was in the mid 1990’s. It was not an easy feat and now NORAD does not function like it did then. It still tracks Santa’s travels on Christmas Eve, however most of the operations were moved to our nearby Peterson Air Force Base. We created a wonderful memory our friends and relatives will not easily forget.

Our home was ready, the dining room buffet and cake were all set for our guests. I had my Silhouette® shadings lowered with the vanes open to allow my guests to enjoy our wooded, Pikes Peak views, to prevent the UV rays from ruining the furnishings, and to keep the late spring heat outside. Those particular shadings have more options than other blinds and shadings on the market because of their unique construction. Silhouettes® and similar shadings let you enjoy these features simultaneously.

Light plays a large part in interior design, and the Silhouettes® by Hunter Douglas are the epitome of light filtering through the sheer fabrics. The light is warm, iridescent, and welcoming. I find it very invigorating and has health benefits as well. Because the light is so attractive, bugs find their way into the openings and aren’t able to leave. So they often stay in the opening too long and die there.

I  educate my clients about the attributes of Silhouettes® and they often select them for their homes. Because the bugs and debris are detrimental, I realized that we needed to have some professional way to rid the shadings of the bugs. They like the heat and light as much as we do. I saw why the bugs gravitated to Silhouettes® and similar shadings,  and was able to bring CamilyWand™ Sticky Bug Removal Tool™ to the market. I’ve been told by an industry executive that our CamilyWand™ is the “GREATEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!”

It’s SAFE, perpetually sticky (when clean) CamilyTip is ideal for lifting the bugs or debris away from the sheer fabric, and removing it from your shadings. Because we don’t want a view littered with bugs, we use the tool whenever needed. It preserves our views, provides insulation and protects our investments in our homes.

We are able to celebrate and enjoy our parties, knowing we have beautiful window treatments to enjoy. We hope you’re enjoying your Memorial Day week and wonderful parties and fun during June.
